Last January I was hospitalized for several weeks. I won’t go into all the details of it as that is not the purpose of this article. The condition I’m told is treatable in out in a patient setting. Getting the insurance to pay for it is another thing.
I was in the hospital a significant number of days and lost some muscle strength. I had to go to physical therapy for an additional 20 days to rebuild my leg strength enough to go home. I really needed more days than that but that’s all the insurance would pay for.
I requested a maid to come in and clean the apartment a bit before I came home from physical therapy. Cats left alone tend to barf a bit, I didn’t want to deal with that an anything else that may be in disarray. I paid one of the maintenance guys to feed my cat and change his water. I was gone a good while.
When I got home from physical therapy my favorite soup pan was missing. I assumed the maid stole the big soup pan, but I never reported it. I had no evidence she took anything. Just peculiar timing.
Earlier this week I was telling some friends in a private chat group about a missing soup pan. I bought two Cuisinart soup pans some time in 2019 from Target. They were not cheap. The small pan held about 1 can of soup, the other about 3-4 cans. I often cooked oatmeal in the bigger pan. I have scorched food in the big soup pan more than a few times (when I got distracted), which required a bit of scrubbing.
I was relating to my friends how I have the small pan and its lid, and the lid for the big pan. But when I returned home I could find no trace of the big soup pan. But not taking its lid didn’t make sense either. I looked for that soup pan for months. I couldn’t find it!
Did you ever have a tool or something you used a lot and it was well built for its purpose? This was one of those things.
Then a few weeks ago I suddenly had 2 big soup pan lids, which didn’t make sense at all! That lid only fits one pan! Where did the 2nd soup pan go and why do I now have 2 big soup pan lids? I thought of buying an identical replacement soup but didn’t. The price has gone up since 2019.
So a couple of days after talking about this anomalous 2nd soup pan lid, and wondering where it arrived from, I open my dishwasher and there’s the big pan! AND ITS BRAND NEW! NO SCOURING FROM SCORCH MARKS!!! WTF??? I KNOW DIDN’T PUT IT IN THE DISHWASHER! Did this pan just manifest in my dishwasher? Converging timelines/eventlines at work?
So I am giggling about all this, and it does make me giggle, I thought... am I going senile and forgetting I bought a new pan somewhere along the line? That thought worried me. So I remembered when I order groceries from Target I use Door Dash and there’s a record of the receipts, so if I did buy and forget it, it’d be in the receipts. I’ve had to use delivery services since the hospital as I am temporarily somewhat wheelchair restricted in my mobility (at least until I am able to free myself completely from the walker.. So I checked the receipts for every month back to March. Its not in ANY of the receipts. I breathed a sigh of relief, I may not know the mechanics and logistics of how my soup pan returned, butI do have that particular style of pan again!
They say when manifesting, don’t insist on how things are manifested, just know they will... I didn’t really set out to manifest a pan, but I did have a strong desire to have that pan again. I could feel it. I could see it. I knew how well it cooked food when I don’t burn things in it. The pan is brand new. No scorch marks at all. No scouring pad abrasions. Just brand new stainless steel.
PS: I still have the extra soup pan lid. That asymmetry of it all is funny....
